algotrader Friends, cardamom prices have come down drastically in idukki auction. Last month it was ₹2800-3000 per kg, now its barely touching ₹2200. Farmers are really worried here. Anyone knows whats the reason? Is there oversupply or demand is less?
algotrader Reply by: AgriCommodityExpert I think its seasonal effect plus Guatemala cardamom is coming cheaper this year. Also hotels and restaurant demand is not fully recovered after covid still some impact is there. Should stabilize by December-January when wedding season demand picks up.
algotrader Reply by: SpiceTrader_Kochi yes correct, also i heard that there is good crop this year in guatemala and they are exporting at lower price. our indian cardamom is better quality but international buyers are going for cheaper option right now.
