I attended webinar on this topic last week. Some key points: - Trading will happen through normal stock exchange platform (BSE/NSE) - Each carbon credit = 1 ton of CO2 reduced - India has target to reduce carbon intensity by 45% by 2030 (from 2005 levels) - This market can be worth thousands of crores Problem is liquidity. In beginning there won't be much volume, so price discovery will be difficult. Also, companies need proper certification from approved agencies. My suggestion - wait for 3-6 months after launch, then see how market is developing.
