Subject: Which broker API is best for algo trading - Zerodha vs Angel vs Upstox?
Planning to build algo trading setup and confused about broker selection. I know programming so can use any API. Which broker has most reliable API, good documentation and reasonable API rate limits?

Zerodha Streak enables strategy creation without code and has robust backtesting tools. But if you're asking about raw API, Zerodha Kite API is most popular and well-documented. Angel One SmartAPI has improved a lot recently. Upstox API is also decent. Main differences: Zerodha has highest API charges (₹2000/month), Angel and Upstox are free. For rate limits all three allow 3 requests per second which is sufficient for non-HFT strategies.

I have used all three. Zerodha Kite API has best documentation and community support - if you face issues you'll find solutions easily. Angel SmartAPI is free which is big plus and websocket streaming is good. Upstox had some API stability issues last year but seems better now. My ranking: Zerodha for reliability, Angel for cost-effectiveness, Upstox if you're already their client. Also check if broker provides historical data API - very important for backtesting.
